Artist's open studio, solo exhibition showcasing a recent series of paintings created during a time of physical injury. Also on show, her 2016 collection of couched tee's made from segments of recycled t-shirts that have been de-threaded, manipulated and hand couched onto recycled fabric and canvas.
The paintings have been created with the use of various recycled fabrics including ripped canvas, rope, curtain and discarded fabric cut offs. These materials are arranged and stencilled onto the board with enamel spray. The composition formed by this process allows the artist to navigate a tangible arena in which paint is applied, stripped back and manipulated to access hidden pathways through form and colour. The process of applying and scraping back various sections comes from a quest to form an understanding of the importance of memory and the consequences of forgotten actions.
Artists home studio open Dec 10th & Dec 11th 11am 5pm.
Home baked treats, tea and refreshments provided along with traditional lawn games and lounge chairs in the artists studio garden. All are welcome at this public event.
